The invisible element that's draining your podcast

Vernazza, Italy

There’s one thing that’ll kill your podcast faster than anything else, and it’s not poor audio or unclear episode titles.

It’s when you as a podcaster start to lose faith in your podcast and your message.

Imagine you’re the owner of the neighbourhood’s favourite bar where locals love to hang out. They admire your tasteful furnishings, peruse your menu, squeal with delight at the scented hand cream in the toilets—but no-one’s ordering a drink.

You can count the cost of running the bar in money. But the cost you can’t count is how it feels to run a business that’s not working. After a while, it doesn’t feel right to keep creating bespoke cocktails if the clientele isn’t drinking them.

This might be where you’re at with your podcast: people in the bar, no-one drinking.

And that’s what might be causing you to pull back from podcasting, or why you keep chopping and changing strategy, or finding it harder to hit the ‘record’ button, or why you aren’t releasing new episodes consistently.

Unfortunately, to your audience, this looks like confusion. Their neighbourhood bar doesn’t seem quite so cosy because the decoration’s changed, the vibe has shifted and the owner’s now telling them that they’re closed on Sundays and Thursdays. They want to find something like what they had before, when it was all fun and good times.

You don't want to shutter the bar, and you don't have to.

Right now, this is still all under your control. You can stop the spiral of losing faith in your podcast. And you can provide that cosy, hangout spot for your ideal clients and underline the fact that if they’re here and enjoying your content, they should be looking at your menu and thinking about placing an order.

I also want to remind you that on every episode that you're not outlining your offer, your client still has the problem that your offer solves. If they don’t know you can help them, they’ll start looking for solutions elsewhere.

So it's time to turn this bar around.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to walk you through how you can get everything you deserve—a thriving podcast that generates and qualifies fresh leads for your business.

I hope it’ll remind you why you started your podcast in the first place.

See you back here,
