I’ve been disappointed by tonnes of stuff I was told I would love:
- Sushi: Keep your cold, wet fish out of my mouth, please
- Fourth Wing: Honestly one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The publishing industry's barrier to the entry remains, if anything, too low
- The musical works of Chappell Roan: She’s not terrible but neither is she as groundbreaking as she's claimed to be. Any Kate Bush fan will tell you that.
With these examples running through my mind, I'm not going to pretend that I know what you like or dislike.
What I can tell you is about the kinds of podcasters I do and don’t work with.
Armed with this information, you can decide whether or not we'd be a good fit.
Let’s start with the podcasters that I don’t work with, either because they won’t benefit from my expertise or I don't want to work with them:
1) Businesses that have a podcast… but don’t really care about it
If you don't enjoy the effort that goes into making your podcast, we just won't work out.
Why I wouldn't work with you: I choose to partner with people who get lit up by their podcast and who understand that it's their business's number #1 marketing asset. They love the whole process of podcasting and just want to see more returns from their investment.
If you feel like your podcast isn't that important to you, this offer probably isn’t for you.
2) Podcasters who are striving and thriving on social media
If you have found your crowd on TikTok or Instagram and posting there makes your cup runneth over, good for you! However, we're probably not a good match.
Why I wouldn't work with you: My offer is about establishing a real connection with your followers, where you can talk without all the background noise and distraction of social media.
I found that podcasters who prefer to use social media to connect with their fans tend to communicate differently to me, and we don't see eye-to-eye about where email fits into their strategy.
3) If you use your podcast to spread hate speech and/or dangerous misinformation
I firmly believe that we don’t have to agree on everything and if you feel strongly enough about an issue to make a podcast about it, I'm probably not the one who'll make you change your mind.
But if your podcast's central thesis is that women have too many rights or that science-backed public health measures are a scam or that races come in a hierarchy, I won't be waiting by my inbox for your email and I don’t wish you luck on your journey.
Why I wouldn't work with you: I hope I don't have to elaborate on this one.
On the other hand, I’m very interested in talking with you if this sounds like you:
-
You have a podcast
- I don’t really mind what your podcast is about (minus the caveats listed in point #3 above) as long as you have a message and an audience that’s vibing with you
-
You’re trying to monetise that podcast
- You use your podcast to sell to your audience, but you’re not seeing the results you'd hoped for
-
You want to build community and connection with your audience
- You started something with your podcast but don’t know where to take it next
If this sounds like you, book a free, no-obligation connection call with me here:
